Trafford Council gets tough!
An Altrincham man who pleaded guilty to fly-tipping in Hale has had his car crushed by Trafford Council.
Manchester Magistrates Court heard that John Alan Daintree, of Bridgewater Road in Altrincham, had tipped around nine bags of waste into bushes by Roaring Gate Lane in Hale on December 12th 2024.
Using CCTV cameras, officers from Trafford Council’s Environmental Improvement Team identified the car used to dump the waste.
After tracing the owner, Mr Daintree was invited to Trafford Town Hall for an interview but missed all three appointments.
On 23rd April, officers located the vehicle that was used in the fly-tipping offence and seized it.
Mr Daintree then appeared in court on Friday 13th June before the vehicle was destroyed.
He has also been ordered to do 40 hours of community service and pay a fine of £588.
Cllr Stephen Adshead, Trafford Council’s executive member for highways, environmental and traded services, said: “Fly-tipping is a blight on our communities and our beautiful countryside – and it simply isn’t worth the risk.”
“Once we find out who is responsible, we will prosecute you and you could end up fined and worse. Don’t fly-tip or your car could end up crushed.”
